    First report from WinDays9

windays9 opening ceremonyAs I wrote in my previous post, this week I am in Opatija at a Windays 2009 conference. I haven’t had much time to write my first report, so sorry for being late :-) . I came to Opatija at Sunday, and the conference started at Monday, so I had some free time to enjoy with all Microsoft student partners that came to Windays9.

Monday started with a Windays9 Business conference, and I started writing some articles for the official Windays9 web page. I have also attended few lectures, but because this is business conference it was not in my focus very much :-) .

At Tuesday, there was an opening ceremony of the Windays 9 conference, and I liked it very much. Everything was well organized, and I have to congratulate Microsoft Croatia for this opening ceremony. windays9_keynote There were two demos, Luka Abrus showed us some user interface improvements in Windows7, and after that Darko Jovisic joined him at the stage to present Microsoft Surface. Ratko Mutavdzic introduced official WinDays9 portal, and asked everyone to “attend” WinDays 2009 Virtual conference at Friday.

Wednesday was day just for me :-) , filled up with great lectures about security, Microsoft virtualization and Windows Server 2008, and I had to choose only one per block :-( . I can’t wait to see video of all other lectures that I had to miss.

I am very happy that I had a chance to try Microsoft Surface. I have to admit it is so cool, and I think it’s user interface is something that everyone will follow in the future.

Of course, every night there is official Windays party, with an after-party at the Hemingway bar. It is so nice and cool to see all “geeks” relaxed and happy :-) .

Today I’m gonna attend few lectures, in the evening I’m planing to go out, and tomorrow is WinDays9 virtual day, but I’ll be going home while streaming of the virtual conference is on.
