    Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

I expected to see Windows Server 2008 R2 to be available to download from MSDN and TechNet on the same date as Windows 7, but I was wrong. I don’t know why (maybe to reduce “attack” on their download servers from users who want to download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 immediately) but [...]

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 boot from VHD

    Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

One of the great new features in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is ability to boot the operating system from VHD file. Why? Look at this example. My colleague, Ales Rosina, Microsoft Student Partner from Slovenia recently wanted to have Windows7 as a virtual operating system inside VirtualPC, for quick access, testing… But, [...]

    Hyper-V on Hyper-V – is it possible?

    Sunday, June 21st, 2009

As you all know, Hyper-V uses microkernelized hypervisor, which means that when you install Hyper-V role in Windows Server 2008, it “sits” beneath Windows Server 2008 home operating system. Windows Server 2008 now acts as a “virtual” operating system, it is in the same level (ring) with other guest operating systems (see picture on the [...]
