    Hyper-V Live Migration

live_migration Live Migration is probably the most mentioned feature of the Hyper-V 2.0. It enables system administrators to move virtual machine from one server to another with no downtime. It is very useful if you have a huge network with many virtual and physical servers, and you need to move your virtual machines very often. While Hyper-V 1.0 provides Quick Migration which creates a significant downtime, Live Migration offers really small downtime (measured in milliseconds). It comes for free with a newest version of the Hyper-V, but it requires some additional preconditions to be met. Jaap Wesselius explains this in his post about Hyper-V R2 Live Migration. Go and read it!

Yeah, but you're limied to how many of these migrations you can do at once to one. Unline VMware which can automatically vMotion off multiple machines at a time when a host needs additional horsepower for a needy VM, Hyper-V is limited to only 1 VM moving off or onto a given host at any time. in other words, If you want to Live Migrate a VM off of a host but another VM is being migrated on to the same host, you will not be able to move off the first VM because there is a limitation.

What the heck is up with all my typos today? ...

Yeah, but you're limited to how many of these migrations you can do at once to only 1 at a time.
