Microsoft starts selling Hyper-V six weeks earlier

On Thursday, Microsoft said it has started selling Hyper-V six weeks ahead of schedule :-) . That’s a big pressure for WMware, today’s market leader in server virtualization techologies. Hyper-V will cost only 28$, and comparable VMware product costs $7,000 to $14,000, depending on how many processors the server has. My personal opinion is that Hyper-V will take a big share of server virtualization cake. The product is still in beta, it has few little bugs, it doesn’t have all the functionalyties that WMware has… but if you join Hyper-V with System Center VMM you’ll have solid framework for server virtualization.
