    Windows Server Foundation Edition

Windows ServerMicrosoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, announced that Microsoft will ship cheap version of Windows Server 2008, called Windows Server Foundation Edition. It is going to be used on low-cost servers, for those companies that don’t need full Windows Server 2008 installation and for those companies that want to buy low-cost operating system. It was problem for Microsoft to sell Windows Server to those companies because they don’t have budget to buy server operating system that costs 4000$. Till now, those companies were mostly used Linux as server operating system, but now Microsoft has operating system that can meet their needs. Windows Server Foundation Edition should hit the market in few months, but for now we don’t have any information about prices and characteristics.
